Sinus Elevation Procedures

The maxillary sinus is an air cavity located inside the upper jaw. The sinus anatomy may droop down around tooth roots in the premolar and molar areas. If molars or premolars are lost due to cavities or periodontal disease they can be replaced with dental implants.

During evaluation, a 3-D xray is acquired to determine the dimensions of existing bone height below the maxillary sinus. If bone height is insufficient (usually <6mm) to allow for placement of a dental implant, a sinus elevation procedure is necessary.

Every patient's sinus and dental anatomy is different. Dr. Frost will evaluate whether sinus elevation can be completed prior to or at the same time of implant placement.
