Soft Tissue Grafting

Gum or gingival recession can result from number of different causes. Patients with thinner tissue and aggressive toothbrushing habits are predisposed to receeding gum tissue.

Recession can also be caused by trauma or periodontal disease. Once the gum line recedes, the root surface is exposed which increases the risk for cavities and root sensitivity. Often times, brushing and oral hygiene are painful at sites where recession has occurred.

Soft tissue grafting increases root coverage and re-establishes a healthy firm pink gum tissue around your teeth. Donor tissue can be obtained either from the roof of the mouth or a donor connective tissue bank.
